Koks tavo mėgstamiausias būdas įdegti?
Natūraliai – deginantis saulėje, žinoma.
Soliariumas – vienintelė išeitis.
Purškiamas įdegis – tai mano naujas triukas.

Toxic shock syndrome
What is TSS?
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a rare but serious illness that is recognised and treatable. Even though it is rare, it's best to learn about it so you can take the right actions should you ever think you have it.

It's believed that TSS is caused by a toxin-producing strain of the bacteria Staphylococcus Aureas that's commonly found on the skin in the nose, armpit, groin or vagina. Most people ‘carry’ these bacteria without problems - but in a very small number of people these bacteria can cause TSS. If left untreated, TSS can develop into a serious illness that can eventually kill you.

What are the symptoms?
The symptoms of TSS are similar to flu but they can become serious incredibly quickly. The signs to look out for are:
Rising body temperature
(102 degrees Fahrenheit [38.8 degrees Celsius] or higher)
Vomiting
Diarrhea
A sunburn-like rash
Muscle aches
Dizziness
Fainting - or near fainting when you stand up

How to avoid getting TSS?

You can reduce your risk of getting TSS during your period by using the tampon with the lowest absorbency for your flow and alternating tampon use with pads during a 24 hour time period. It's also important to change your tampon regular intervals (every 4-8 hours). Never wear a tampon for more than 8 hours and remember to remove the last tampon you put in at the end of your period.

What to do if you think you have TSS?
If you experience the symptoms above and you're wearing a tampon remove the tampon immediately and call a doctor for immediate treatment. Tell the doctor that you have been using tampons and suspect TSS. Of course, you could be wrong and find there’s nothing to worry about. But with TSS, fast treatment is critical so it’s always wise to be overcautious and act quickly.
